Day 210 – Adios Lima, view from a bus

Adios Lima and another long 18 hour overnight bus from to Mancora, North Peru on the coast. Most of the outskirts of downtown Lima are falling into decay and the colonial buildings are in need of restoration. However as the bus drives further north out of town we realise the extent of Lima’s population living in poor slum conditions. So sad to see a bigger divide between the wealthy and the poor who live in basic shacks on the edge of the desert with no running water. Lima doesn’t get a lot of rain and over the winter the city experiences sea fog from the Pacific. We drive for hours up the coast with desert landscape on the Pan American highway through this fog.
