Day 93 – Itaipu dam, 2nd biggest

Itaipu Dam was the biggest hydro electricity dam in the world until last year when China’s 3 gorges dam opened. It is 7km long and 250m high and is built as a binational agreement between Paraguay and Brazil. We jumped over the 2 borders in the middle of the river inside the dam. Although a 7th wonder of the modern world, I was truly sadden to learn the devastating effect of drowning the Guaira Falls, the largest waterfalls in the world by volume to make way for construction.
