Day 242 – I survive electric showers

Sometimes Nobbies have to post the reality of our budget travelling and today is one of them. Electric showers is a shower head plugged into electricity to provide hot water and is common in older buildings in South America. This shower in Quito tops all the ones we have used. No OH&S practices here! Surviving no electric shocks (also common) we bid farewell to Ecuador as we literally booked a last minute flight the night before to get into Colombia. With only 3.5 weeks left in Sth America we take an afternoon flight to Cartagena on the Caribbean coast via Bogota. Feels like we are cheating taking the fast way but time is the essence and having visions of been stuck in a south west border town of Colombia is not our idea of fun.
