Day 203 – On the way to Colca Canyon

Off to the Colca Canyon (twice as deep as the grand canyon for 2 days). We reach the highest point on the Patapampa Pass of 4910m with prayer rocks to the gods surrounded by beautiful snow capped volcanoes and the Andes mountain ranges. Drop down to the Colca Valley and pass through traditional towns. Beautiful pre Inka agricultural steep terraces throughout the valley still used today to grow potatoes, maize and quinoa. The water is channelled through canals to the terraces below.
