Day 174 – Uros floating islands, Peru

Nobbies take up a recommendation from our Canadian travelling buddies to stay a night with Cristina and her family on one of the Uros floating islands on Lake Titicaca. About 150 floating islands made of reed with 3-10 Aymara families living on each. The buildings are also made of reed and the communities live by their traditional methods. With high altitudes and lots of sun most islands have solar panels on their roofs now. Fishing in the afternoon, dressing up in the local costumes (lots of laughs) and a singalong competition at night (Nobbies sing waltzing Matilda). A beautiful family with such wonderful hospitality. A memorable experience to treasure.
