Day 225 – Española Island

Española Island is the oldest island at 4 million years old. It is a dying flat island with white sandy beaches and rocky cliffs perfect for sea birds like the large waved albatross, nazca booby and our favourite blue foot booby. The red marine iguanas also reside here. We were lucky to see the birds nesting and young chicks only weeks old. The highlight of the morning was watching the elusive courtship of the waved albatross. More snorkelling amongst colourful fish and sea lions then the rest of the afternoon chilling on the beach with the sea lions where Ben got chased by one of the larger males after Ben lay amongst the harem.
