Day 224 – Santa Fe & South Plaza

Our 5th day and the sun is out. Sail to Santa Fe and South Plaza islands off Santa Cruz. Have never seen so many sea lions with their pups on a beach and a couple of sharks lingering close to shore. Get to see blue foot boobies birds, land iguanas endemic to the islands, large Opuntia prickly pear cacti and seabirds. South Plaza island is at it’s most colourful with beds of red ice plants called Sesuvium. What makes the islands so unique is the lack of fear the wildlife have around us when we are up close. Snorkelling with sea lions is a bonus especially when they are so playful. Now how many sea lion photos does one need!
